Which vehicles may need technical inspection?
ROP says the following may undergo technical inspection:
- private vehicles that are 10 years old;
- commercial vehicles;
- buses and trucks; and
- pickup trucks.
The word may matters: the page does not say every vehicle in each category is always inspected. Follow the result shown for the specific vehicle. If an inspection is conducted, ROP lists an additional OMR 5 fee.
Online renewal steps
- Enter the vehicle’s plate code and plate number.
- Enter the owner’s registry number: Civil Registry, Commercial Registry or company number, as applicable.
- Select renewal and allow the service to validate the details.
- Enter an email address or mobile number for the renewal notification.
- Continue to the official e-payment gateway and review the displayed amount.
- After payment, keep the email or SMS containing the transaction details and receipt.
- Print the registration card at a police service centre or self-service kiosk after receiving the notification.
Do not use an unofficial payment link or share an OTP, password or card-security code with someone offering to complete the renewal.

ROP adds OMR 5 if technical inspection is conducted. Always rely on the amount displayed for the vehicle in the official service because classifications and fees may change.
Late-renewal fine
ROP states that a delay fine for each month is imposed according to the service-fee classification when renewal is delayed by more than one month from the vehicle’s expiry date. The reviewed page does not publish the late-fine amount for each classification. Do not treat this as advice to delay renewal; check the live amount if the registration has expired.
Insurance and traffic fines
Insurance and fines are prerequisites, not optional add-ons. If a recent policy or fine payment has not appeared in the renewal service, use the official insurer or ROP support route rather than repeating a payment.

Card printing and payment records
After payment, ROP sends transaction details and a receipt by email or SMS. The published procedure then directs the user to print the vehicle registration card at a police service centre or self-service kiosk.
Keep the payment reference and receipt until the renewed card has been printed. ROP also says the service can provide a report of previous e-payment transactions for a selected period using the payment reference number.
